On Game, $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players

Hero (CO): $51.49 (103 bb)
BTN: $48.72 (97.4 bb)
SB: $50 (100 bb)
BB: $50.27 (100.5 bb)
UTG: $60.23 (120.5 bb)
MP: $26.68 (53.4 bb)

Preflop: Hero is CO with Q Q
2 folds, Hero raises to $1.50, BTN raises to $4.25, 2 folds, Hero calls $2.75

Flop: ($9.25) 7 J T (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $4.75, Hero calls $4.75

Turn: ($18.75) 3 (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $14, Hero folds

Results:

Spoiler

$18.75 pot ($0.93 rake)
Final Board: 7 J T 3
Hero mucked Q Q and lost (-$9 net)
BTN mucked and won $17.82 ($8.82 net)

My usual gameplan here is to go broke CO vs BU with QQ but this guy is extremely tight in his 3bets so I choose to flat.

Flop I call because I expect AK to give up on the turn.

Shitty plan but shitty spot as well ?(

I think you're being deceived by sample. With that sample, regarding 3bet frequencies I would look to VPIP, PFR and 3bet overall, definitely not gonna look to 3bet by position.

So, a 22/16/7.5 makes it a 4bet/call with QQ COvsBU for me.

+1

The sample for positions isn't that great by any stretch of the imagination.

I'd 4-bet/go with the hand here.

Postflop: villain seems aggro on flop/turn so he may in fact barrel AK/AQ two streets.

HEy guys,

How big of a sample would you consider reasonable for 3 bet stat/position?

Maybe >1.5-2k hands. Of course you can make some assumptions before that but the danger is to give it too much credit which seems to be the case in this hand.

It would depend from person to person and the position you are looking for.

For example in Mp we have 12 samples while on the BTN we have 31 and SB we have 60.

The samples in SB/BB are usually the ones that will be more accurate faster (because you usually get a lot more chances to 3-bet from here).
