nl50 turbulence

Swingy day yesterday, had lots of setups both in my favour and against me. I think I can beat nl50 if only I put in several hours of studying a month, which is a lot for me since my grind to study ratio is 100% / 0%. Would you guys count time spent on the forums reading about theory and looking at some hands other people posted as studying?

1) I should have folded river, but first I guess I should have 3bet flop or at least shove turn. Villain is a fish with AF 1.5 and he obviously picked the wrong moment to show aggression since he reps such a narrow range

2) Villain again a fish who plays 43/19 AF 1.4 over 379 hands. I donk this flop to fold pocket pairs or any kind of air that they limped, turn is obv a miracle card and I continue betting and get called again. Now I'm thinking he has a weak ace but there is still chance he has a flush. My question here is: Could I have checked the river with intention of c/ raising or do I always have to bet to get value from the ace because this kind of opponent will probably check back the ace?

I have a noob question regarding posting hands from HEM2. Is there a simple 1 click way to post hands like there was in HEM1? When I paste the hand here some parts are just computer language that I had to manually erase i.e. the hand is not posted in a perfect way like it was with HEM1.

The degenerate that I am, I had to play yesterday and today even though my connection kept snapping every couple of minutes. Yesterday was an up and down day ending with small loss playing only HU but today we had a healthy +4 BI profit at 6max so that's great.

I realised that even though stars keeps disconnecting i can still browse the net so I googled this problem and found that it might be something other than my adsl cable which is definitely not good news. One of the answers i googled said to "run ping in the background" so I messed around trying to do it. I hope I didn't fuck something up software wise ♦ I still hope it's just the damaged cable. I guess we'll know for sure tomorrow.

Another weird thing happened today when I was unable to use the search feature on stars That got resolved by restarting the stars client though, so that's one less worry for me

I'm arranging a sweat session/ coaching with a friend to try to improve my HU game so I'll let you know how that went and how many leaks we have spotted

Had a hectic week, hence not much time to write an update.
I've tried to resolve my internet issue but had no luck. I had a guy over to look at my computer and he didn't find the problem, so I went to my internet provider and had my router replaced- that didn't fix it either:f_confused: So now I guess I have to contact my phone operator to see if they can fix it. Also had a housewarming party but I'm not gonna move to my apartment permanently until I buy a new computer, so I'm just gonna use it for partying for a week or two:s_cool:

Onto poker, I have failed with volume so far this month but hopefully I'll manage to grind a bit more towards the end of the month. I did put in a couple of big sessions though, despite having connection problems. And also, I've lost the biggest pot of my career. I've been running pretty bad at HU but ok at 6max and I'm barely in the green for the month Still this is the best January ever for me VPP-wise and it puts me on track for supernova this year. The past few years I have always played next to nothing in January.
Also I've checked out that 'set a goal' promotion on stars and I'm not thrilled with it. Basically what they give you is 120$ for 5k fpps and at the platinum exchange rate I get 120$ for 9240 fpps if I'm not mistaking. So all I get is to save 4240 fpps which is not really a sum worth committing to this goal, at least for me. I'll just do it on my own pace and with no pressure.

No update in two weeks doesn't really go with my new years resolution but I'm not giving up. I have totally messed up my sleeping shedule the last few days so after waking up again in the middle of the night I decided I might do something constructive and update my blog.

So what was going on in the last two weeks? I had my PC repaired and had to reinstall HM three times before I got it to work again (I'm really growing to hate this program and should really try poker tracker in the near future) and went back to grinding. The month was bad and too swingy and I ended up breakeven with RB. I think it would have been better if I just stuck to 6max but HU is so tempting when fish come and donate a stack or two in 5 minutes. However, I've had long HU sessions with total whales who I couldn't bust and I just got so frustrated like never before in my life which doesn't happen to me when I play 6max. I don't know if I ran really bad vs those fish or I just don't have the optimal strategy for passive stations, probably a mix of those two. I found it easier to play vs aggro villains or thinking regs. Conclusion: I need to get some coaching for HU ASAP!

As for 6max, nl50 is not that scary at all. There are plenty of fish and I should be able to show a positive winrate in the future. Ofc some coaching in that department wouldn't hurt too. Regs seem really nitty and my image is pretty good since some of them think I'm a fish with too high VPIP but some of them already refuse to give me action when we stay HU so that's a good indicator that I'm doing at least something right. I really haven't seen any regs play 30/25 style or at least 28/22, mostly it's 21-22/15-16 or lower which is pretty nitty for me.

Overall, there were some good and some bad things in January but I can't be happy with any losing month. What I can do is learn from the experience and try to improve based on it.

January profit: -488$

I still haven't used my FPPs in hope of a run good so I can save them and exchange them at the supernova rate but If I need to cashout some more money I don't think I'll be able to save those anymore. My BR is still fine for nl50 but it's not a healthy 100BI roll that it used to be and that gives me a peace of mind which allows me to play without thinking about the money. Hopefully it will be a different story come end of February. If not, I'm moving down to nl25 with a $2k roll.
