What do you get when you buy HM2. I got the 30 day trial, but I couldn't log in. Do you get some kind of serial number with password? Or do you get an account which allows you to use the software? Can anybody please explain this to me?

You get a licence key, similar to Microsoft and off you go! It's that simple!
but you need to create an account on www.holdemmanager.com to manage your license and you need to store the login and password infos in a safe place.

I bought HM1 in October 2011 and the deal if I recall correctly was that I would be entitled to a free upgrade to HM2 when it came out.
I had stopped playing last year and have just started again, please can you tell me how I get the upgrade?
The free upgrade was a limited offer which was over some month ago.
As owner of a HM1 license you now get a discount when buying HM2. You should see this discount in your account on www.holdemmanager.com.

There didn't appear to be any time limit on the offer when it was announced here on Poker Strategy, it seemed to be as a result of the delay to the release of HM2.

The time limit wasn't mentioned in the announcement but the promotion is over.
