I hate the king on the turn here and decide to check, was that too weak?

i think i would bet the turn again. there are many draws possible and when you check you give up the hand. i don´t think he would fold a J to your bet but maybe he folds a 9. you can fold to a raise though.
if the river is a blank i would probably check/call to catch a bluff by a busted draw
