MP: $1.22 - VPIP: 16, PFR: 9, 3B: 0, AF: 0,0, Hands: 32
CO: $2.00 - VPIP: 30, PFR: 27, 3B: 13, AF: 0,0, Hands: 30
BTN: $2.29 - VPIP: 18, PFR: 7, 3B: 4, AF: 5,0, Hands: 297
Hero (SB): $2.26 - VPIP: 13, PFR: 10, 3B: 5, AF: 2,7, Hands: 28198
BB: $1.00 - VPIP: 60, PFR: 20, 3B: 0, AF: 0,7, Hands: 5
UTG: $1.42 - VPIP: 86, PFR: 14, 3B: 50, AF: 3,5, Hands: 7

Pre Flop: ($0.03) Hero is SB with J :diamond: J :spade:
UTG calls $0.02, 3 folds, Hero raises to $0.08, 1 fold, UTG calls $0.06

Flop: ($0.18) 3 :spade: T :diamond: 8 :diamond: (2 players)
Hero bets $0.14, UTG calls $0.14
Didn't like the flush draw, and decided to take down the pot and protect my hand. This flop hits a lot of hands that can beat me on a later street.

Turn: ($0.46) 7 :diamond: (2 players)
Hero bets $0.30, UTG calls $0.30
Still no action from villain. The turn card is a good one and a bad one. It gives us additional outs, but also completes a lot of draws. We might be ahead, but I decided to bet one more time for information and value.

River: ($1.06) 3 :diamond: (2 players)
Hero bets $0.30, UTG raises to $0.90, Hero calls $0.60
I decide to valuebet. I call because I think it's profitable. We have good pot odds: 3.77 to 1, and we are winning here 5 out of 8 tmes.

Even fought I lost, I'm concerned about the turn play. I'm not sure if the bet on the turn was a good idea.

Hi Vito,

Preflop: I would make it 10c or 12c preflop being OOP.

Postflop: Why do we bet to take down the pot rather than bet for pure value? All those draws you are talking about plus worse pairs are all behind us so we can bet for value and protection.

On the turn we don't have a ton of value in a bet but some worse hands can still call like Tx, 99, and some random Ad. So I would bet as well.

However, on the river we should simply bet/fold or check/fold. What worse hands do you expect villain to shove there with? Sure we get some ok odds but we still need to beat hands that shove there.

Does TQ shove there? Does 9dX shove there? Almost never. So all that shoves is better than us so we can simply fold.

Against fishy guys (like this guy seems to be) we should always bet large for value on wet boards. So at least 3/4 of the pot to full pot.

Oh, I get it. It's not about the size, but about "why do we bet" :f_biggrin:

Thx :)
