Hi there,

I've recently joined Stars after playing exclusively at Titan, and i'm having trouble understanding how to apply ICM to tournaments that use Antes.

For instance, i'm currently playing a tournament where the blinds went from 100/200, to 100/200+25 Ante. How do I use the ICM here? Do I assume the blinds are 200, 225, or 425 (200+9x25 - 1 for each seat of the table)?

At the moment i'm calculating them to 425, and using the ICM under that assumption, but i'd like to know what everyone else thinks.

Can nobody give me any idea how to approach this issue?

From reading Harrington he seems to use the initial pot (ie - all blinds and antes before anybody has acted), as the indicator. Should I apply something similar here?

Play with ICM trainer, it has a input box for antes. Generally the ranges loosen up with the addition of antes. It doesn't make a huge amount of difference though but your on the right track; more money in the pot inititally means more chips can be won just from the blinds means we loosen up.

well...
lets say blinds are 100/200 with 25 antes.
If you want to find your MZone and your pushing range we want to add everything up that is in the pot pre-flop before any action.
so...
100+200+25x the amount of players at the table, lets just say its 8.
so it would be 100+200+25+25+25+25+25+25+25+25=400

So your calculations are correct.

There is alot of dead money in the pot pre-flop so we can raise/push with a looser range.
Not to much looser but enough to keep up with increasing blinds/antes.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I never realised there was an ICM Trainer program, I only ever saw/used the Lite version. I'll download the full version and give it a whirl.

i think, with the antes in play u have to see the total pot and whats ur M to determine if u are in the fase push or fold and apply almost the same ranges with no antes. In the ICM trainer there are optios to put the antes

my guess: push and call a bit looser :)
