Don't all NL players just go all in preflop anyway and then just hope to get lucky?

Anyway... I think he would have called the OESD on the flop anyway, there was enough in the pot to make his call correct with eight outs. I probably would have raised more preflop. Like .80-.90. But that may be because I don't have a choice how much when I want to raise. ♦

Anyway this is probably full of crap, I haven't played a lot of NL.

You could just call on a dry board since you're in position, but that board is connected so I prefer to raise.

Please convert your hands.
The hand is fine. It's ok to slowplay against a mid-stacked player - he'll only have on pot-sized bet (PSB) on the turn, so you can get it in soon anyway. On a drawy flop though, it would be an obvious raise.

From what i understood he raised 25 cents before the flop, and you re raised 70 cents. I think that was your first mistake, you should have pushed him all in with your re raise. No one in their correct state of mind would call an all in with jack nine off suit. You allowed him to catch the straight. That was your mistake. But hey anyone with a little bit of money can play poker...that doesn`t make them good players...casinos and online sites are full of crapy players....you lost to a bad beat. Advice: Next time if you have Aces, Kings, or Ace King suited and someone raises before the flop push them all in, you have to learn to defend your hands and chips.
When you let him see the flop, he had an open ended straight he had eight outs or 1:6.5 chances to win. when the queen came out you should have folded. As an advice I only slowplay the nuts. I used to slowplay Aces or Kings at the beggining and would lose to the worst hands. So now i defend them.

qparce is very very wrong... why push allin preflop with AA or KK. with these hands I WANT ACTION. I want a hand like J9 calling me preflop. moving allin with AA and KK there will not protect the hand but WASTE it.

you played the hand very good and had no reasons to belive you were behind at any point. it's fine but that is poker. sometimes you do get bad beats. cheers and no worries, you played it fine.

I particularry like flat calling on the flop. trapping here is a good move. too bad he had a draw to beat you. mabe you should note him as a draw bettor and act accordingly next time you play with him.

Yes, I do agree with you Luck. I don't think that in a cash game, I should move all in that situation. I want a bigger pot.

I think that my mistake was just calling on the flop. This is definitely questionable. As you said, I was trapping there.

I usually wouldn't slowplay it, but the board is not too drawy and if you just call, his stack will be less than potsize on the turn and you may end up stacking him if even if he's got just an 8 or a T, that he could end up folding if you raised him on the flop.
So don't worry, you played well, just got unlucky. Sometimes in NL you'll have to give free cards, that's part of the game.

Calling flop is fine.
He is middle-stack
You have top set
If he is bluffing then, he´ll fold
If you call then he thinks you´re weak and push most of the turns.
It doesn´t really matter if he gets next card free or not, since he is probably pot committed, if he has oesd and he would fold all his other hands
