b) work even harder

That's a very personal question and I doubt that many people would be comfortable stating their numbers publicly like that. With that said, I'm pretty sure that no one who's visiting these forums make 1mil+ a year from poker, and very very few members who make 500k or at least used to.

I'd say most pros fall into a category of making between 30k to 100k and only minority between pros make more than that. Not counting random tournament binks.

you can calculate by yourself there is one thing what you need to know on average pro (winrate) and you are done

Let me make a guess:
There are 10M people play poker regularly (i.e more than 3 sessions a month). I forget the source, but only 5% playing >NL50. So there are about 500k people playing NL50 and above. According to (again) unknown source, only the best 1% are winning players.

So I guess there are 5k people make > $30k a year. (Hmm... looks like too big number)

okay so then there is the question:

why do you play poker?
To make money?
Why play poker when you can't make more than 500k or 1m a year?

Of course you could live in a poor country and live like a king with little money.

i understand your point, perhaps I should have phrased it this way.

Lets look at this situation (hypothetical)

By working my normal job I make between 300k and 700k a year.
I really love poker, but am worried if I turn pro I wont even make 100 k a year

do you give up your job of 300 to 700 k a year to play poker and only make 100k.

thats thats sort of my quesiton.
Do you risk your current income and really try work very hard to make more by playing poker.
what would you do in this situation?

Kinda depends on how much you hate your job and how much you are making in poker now. If you wouldn't be making at least 100k from poker playing part time quitting such well paying job would be absolutely stupid no matter how much you hate it. Tho even if you hate your job you could end up saving up tons of money and be set for life after 5-10 years depending on what standard of living you want and then could do w/e you want with your time, poker too.

But in reality most people don't make such kind of money in their jobs so poker becomes more lucrative alternative.

If you make between 300k and 700k from your job and you are worry that you cant make even 100k from poker then definitely poker isnt for you

You really should stay still and calm with your job imo
Play poker for fun and as hobby in your spare time mate trust me if that above is the case

he could be a poker fish and let us win from his job salary insted of being pro ♦
