Paying my room by playing ZOOM

Hello world!

How are you doing? My name is Sam and I am a 24 year old Business Intelligence Engineer from the Netherlands. I play poker as a hobby, mainly for fun, challenge and competition.

I started playing about 5 years ago. Had some decent success at the full ring rush tables, which was my main game for the most part. Gotten very close to a 5 figure bankroll when Black Friday announced itself.

That was it and I pretty much quit that same day. Have been travelling all over the world for the past year and now I am back at the tables. Trying to climb up through the ranks playing 6-max ZOOM. I like the format for being able to instantly start and quit sessions. And also putting in more volume as a part time player.

Results so far have been promising. Beating the micro stakes quite well, but got my ass kicked at 25NL with my first shot.

This blog is meant for keeping progress, accountability, strategy and getting in touch with fellow players. If you are playing the same stakes as me and want to discuss hands and/or do sweat sessions, I am usually in.

As far as my game goes, I play a 17/15 style comfortably, but I am experimenting with opening up aiming for the lower twenties.

That is it for now. Don't expect daily updates, but I'll aim for at least every weekend, hopefully more. Cheers!

Hey Sam

welcome to our blog section,

nice start I'll be following. 5 figures? must have been nice when fultilt came back.

so you are not using FT money as part of your Bankroll?

Hi there!

Here are my results from today's session. I also got the last $10 vip bonus and a $75 gold star bonus added to my bankroll. Going to take a shot at 25NL in my next session tonight.

Spoiler

Some of the larger pots:

Villain makes a rather questionable call on the flop and coolers me by the river. I guess he thinks I have a flushdraw there very often, since he checked back the turn.

Here I flat a 4bet with QQ to keep his range wide and the board runout is just great.

http://weaktight.com/5750280
Against a really active squeezer I 4bet with 88 intending to call a shove. Villain just calls and I hit my set on the flop.

This villain is just crazy aggressive and his riverbet is very much polarized to a full house or nothing. Not thrilled about calling though.

Villain here is a standard regular. Not happy about calling the turn.

Any comments on the hands are appreciated.

Pretty much used it for travelling expenses. Besides, after not playing for two years, I'd rather start at lower stakes and get used to it again. Also switched from full ring to 6-max.

Have been playing two tables of 25NL lately. Really forcing myself to think it through. Still making mistakes obviously, but doing alright. I was playing a $175 stack by the end of today's session. _biggrin:

I'll post some of the big pots later this weekend. Happy grinding!

Played a somewhat long session today. Couldn't really make or break anything, until the end where I suddenly got smacked by the deck. So the 25NL saga continues. Keep reading for the big pots.

See you at the tables!

And finally the big hands from this weekend, starting with a 350 bb pot.

I don't think villain is just calling the 5bet preflop with KK+ very often, so QQ is an easy ship.

http://weaktight.com/5758160
Really weird hand, where I get enough pot odds on the turn to call, but have to fold river when I miss. Probably making some betsizing mistakes along the way in this one. Didn't expect a raise though.

http://weaktight.com/5758174
Biggest mistake of the day. I should definitely just call his minraise on the flop. Villain can't really represent much on this board, but what else can he have. Big mistake, especially deep.

http://weaktight.com/5758198
No point in slowplaying here ever in a 3bet pot.

http://weaktight.com/5758213
I usually 3bet here versus a minraise. On the turn I am obviously happy to get it in and don't expect villain to show QT very often.

http://weaktight.com/5758225
No brainer triple barrel for value. Oh well.

Quads :f_biggrin:

http://weaktight.com/5758248
Villain in this hand is playing 24/20. Not sure about the best line postflop. In retrospect I like betting myself. Ended up calling down since I block many AK combos, but pretty sure this isn't optimal.

Villain here is really bad. Didn't expect him to be this bad though.
