So these are a couple follow up hands to the thread I posted "Flop Problem" in the fixed limit forum. Please read that thread first!

1. This was a hand from today. This was not a bad situation for me as I am getting good odds for a call here, which I obviously made.

2. Unlike hand 1, this is what the situation usually is. I have one overcard with a backdoor straight draw. Pretty weak.

I have played against this player quite a bit now and he makes it a habbit to check raise me on the flop then bet the turn, usually with absolutely nothing. If you have any suggestions on how to defend against this kind of play let me know in this thread or in "Flop Problem". Thanks.

Hi MP87.

1) Well this is a pretty easy hand on the flop. You call and reevaluate on the turn. As you have a gutshot + a backdoorflushdraw you don't fear any card on the turn.
If you don't improve then the opponent doesn't improve either (if he had a draw). This means that you call most of the time on the turn again.
The river is now the most important street. If you don't improve but the turn or river was a :heart: or 5 then just fold. Improved to a pair or unimproved but no draw arriving (well this can be folded as well on your limit) you can call. Impoved to a backdoorflush or straight you can of course raise.

2) Against unknown or passive opponents you can fold the flop directly.
If your opponent is aggressive he could raise with a 5 or 3 as well so you get the outs to call the raise and fold the turn unimproved.
There is no need to force a calldown here as there are enough other situations to do so.
