BTN: 45 BB (VPIP: 0.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 10)
Hero (SB): 104.5 BB
BB: 100 BB (VPIP: 10.20, PFR: 10.20, 3Bet Preflop: 11.11, Hands: 51)

CO: 167.5 BB (VPIP: 15.38, PFR: 11.54, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 26)

Hero posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has A♣ Q♠

fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to 2 BB, BB raises to 7 BB, Hero calls 5 BB

Flop: (14 BB, 2 players) 4♥ 6♠ J♥
Hero checks, BB bets 10 BB, fold

BB wins 13.5 BB

I clearly have to raise preflop here but when I got reraised I wasn't sure what to do.

He's 80% folding to Steals but AQ is a very strong hand against the BB.

I called and wanted to donk bet the flop as I thought he most likely missed unless he had QQ+ or Jx. I thought he might Raise me anyway...so I checked. When he bet I saw no option but to fold.

Should I have played any different preflop? 4betting seems expensive. Folding...a bit weak with that hand.

Hi Edukator,

Preflop: Why are you min raising in the SB?

Given that we minraised and 3-bets are smaller we have at least a call.

As played, given our hand and equity it's an easy fold.

Well...I'm minraising in the SB because I'm raising a huge range of hands. Opponnents at this limit seem to call and then fold to a cbet A LOT. Which makes me an extra 2 cents as opposed to people folding more often.

Also...I'm only risking .04 to win .03. So I can open more hands and get my cbet called or raised more often without losing much money.

Also...I think people don't respects SB raises much so they tend to call a lot...at least at this limit.

But if they call and fold a lot postflop we'd benefit more from a 3x raise because we collect a bigger pot, unless you think that they fold way too much preflop to 3x.

2x means you are risking 1.5 bb to 1.5bb so your steal has to work 50% without postflop. If you raise 3x that means you risk 2.5bb to 1.5bb so your steal has to work 62.5%... And I am sure that you will get 3-bet a lot more often when you make it just 2bb, perhaps not a lot yet but as you move up you will.
