Hey,

i really need someone to look at this hand and give me some input.

About the hand:
#1 We are very deep and late into the tournament. Field of 25k and 60player remaining, currently around #20 in chips
#2 I was EXTREMLY tired, this hand was ~10minutes before the first day closed and after 10h playing
#3 Villian is chipleader and raised a lot of hands since he was moved to the table. I have 15 hands on him for 43/36 no 3bets and aggression of 5.

Dont forget my state: i played 10h, started at 22pm played through the night to 7:50am!!!!

PF:
i called the minraise OOP due to villian riasing a lot of weaker hands here but im not comfortable 3betting here due to his enourmous stack.

Flop:
The flop was dry enough for me to x/c because i was confident that he would fold a lot of weaker hands to a raise here and i assumed that i would get more value out of him due to his aggression by just calling.
In Addition i wasnt really scared of any turn card.

Turn:
I check to him once again because of his aggresion and planed to go for check/shove.

River:
Well the river is where my brain shut down. I was so tired that i really didnt think anymore about what hands would reraise me here. I quickly assumed he does it probably with all Kx Hands and hoped he had a strong hand like AK or AJ aswell as a lot of weaker 2pair like K2 K3 K5 or J2 J4 J5 and shipped it all.

Conclusion:
Today i ask myself a few questions:
#1 should i just fold KJ oop here? Day1 would finish ~10min later and im in a good position, dropping out now would be $700 and just sitting it out to my current chip rank would mean $1300, winner taking $65k.
#2 Im personally fine with the x/c on the flop but asking myself why i didnt bet the turn big. Yes he may fold a lot of weaker hands but the pot is already close to half my stack and taking it now would push me close to the final table.
#3 while i blame river to me beeing really tired: was there actually a way for me to fold that hand here?

Thanks for your time!

Hello Tob!

I think yout thoughts are fine untill the river. But as I do not know the dinamics of the table , I can not said the shove river is a bad play.

Lets analyse the streets:

PF : Just call or 3bet/fold. KJ is a hand that flops really well vs a wide range but itsd not that good to call an allin. So even if you are OOP I would just call here better than 3bet and face a shove alot of the time.

Flop : You probably have the nuts. Ofc the can also have hands like KK,JJ,55 , but he also have hands like worse Kx , Jx and pairs. As you said , since the board is too dry , its tough to c/r and get called by a worse hand . And more , nowing he's agressive , its better just to call and let him bluff again ott.

Turn : You have already made a decision otf. ANd this 4 is prolly a blank , so stick with the plan, just check. I would again just c/c since all the hands that call a shove bet again otr and he still might bluff another street with worse.

River : Considering he's agressive I do not think he would cb the turn with TP . He might do it as a trap with monsters like sets . That being said , onde he raises you otf , his range is completely polarized , he either has you beaten or he's got a bluff. So there's no reason to shove here , just b/c. Unless you think he might have AA,AK or something like K5/54 , wich I think its hard.

if u r tired and villain is agro fold preflop
as played
def lead turn like 600-700k cos he is probly ch/ back AQ/AT/AJ/KQ/QT/JX type of hands

RIVER WHY THE HELL U SHOVE AFTER HE RAISE U ON RIVER, JUST CALL U WILL HAVE LIKE ~11bb stack and u can get back in the game

I suspect hero actually is pretty sure he is beat on river but this is like a "fuck it I'm too tired to grind back from 11BB and I've had enough"

Thanks guys,

pretty much what i expected.

@rhinoneil
it was more like my brain shutting off on the flop and thinking about a nice double up.
20min earlier when i realized how exhausted i was, i told myself to just fold everything except QQ+ until the day is over so i can go at it fresh again next day. my head was so fucked up i forgot it 10minutes later :)

i probably didnt think about his hand at all on the river anymore.
somehow i deserved to drop out in that spot with that extreme bad play, on the otherhand his luck is quit disgusting. going from A35 to hit his gutter twice ...

Hi all,

My thoughts:

From the BB this is an easy call. From the SB a call is a lot less attractive as we're guaranteed to be absolutely out of position in the hand, we do not close the action (so BB can squeeze us out of the pot), and we have a really bad price on a call. Instead, I would choose to either 3bet (which I'd do) or fold (which is the lower variance line). If he's raising a lot of hands, a 3bet is very very good.

Flop: yes.

Turn: go for a second check/call is my preferred line. His stats seem like more of a reg than a fish: his gap between PFR and VPIP is not very high, and his raise sizing seems appropriate, though a bit large.

River: people sometimes do really silly check behinds on the turn with value hands. With that in mind, I don't really see any value in going all-in on the river. Maybe if we'd made a small bet to start with, we can get our opponent to level themselves into making a thin raise, and a subsequent thin call vs a shove. Here, however, we've already bombed the river and his raise smells really fishy. Even though he is only representing a hand like 22, we still shouldn't go all-in. Just make the crying call.
