On June 16, players will be competing in a World Record Tournament - a $300,000 guaranteed freezeout with $25,000 going to the winner. The buy-in? Just $1.

• Tournament starts: June 16, 17:00 GMT
• Registration starts: Available now
• Prize pool: $300,000 gtd
• Player cap: 225,000 player max

Why do they need 225k max? If last year record tournament whit 200k max was full meany hours before it started.

Seems a bit crazy to have a player cap on a tourney that's trying to set a world record.

Wonder if that's due to technical issues or if they just want to be able to break the record every year...

I think while trying to break to world record they probably want to test how far they can push their servers. I think we can expect lagging at the time on very large tournies but they will work on the issues as they usually do and make it work!

kind of a live user testing :)

the world record is just an excuse IMO

There is something else to it with the record attempt and Guinness. My University had wanted the world record for the largest dodge ball game. We had a cap on players. Something must be up with the application where you need to claim and attempt number or something.
