Hey L,

Why do you cbet there? What is his range after calling you on the flop? What part of that range checks back on that turn do you think? You need to give more details about you think to get the most out of the forums.

Hi EmanuelC16!

Ok. I see.

"Why do you cbet there?"
I bet for value and protection.

"What is his range after calling you on the flop?"
I think that his range in this situation: A4-A9, 88, 99, FD, 89, maybe: K7o and K7s

"What part of that range checks back on that turn do you think?"
88-99, FD, 89, K7o

What do you think? :)

If you input a range close to what you said (just more Ax since there is no difference between A2 and AJ in your opponent's range, he has them both, you see that your cbet is not that good.

Board: A♦6♠7♦
       Equity     Win     Tie
MP2    35.28%  35.28%   0.00% { KhKs }
MP3    64.72%  64.72%   0.00% { JJ-88, AJs-A2s, K7s, 98s, 54s, KdQd, KdJd, QdJd, KdTd, QdTd, JdTd, Kd9d, Qd9d, Jd9d, Td9d, Kd8d, Qd8d, Jd8d, Td8d, 6d5d, 6d4d, A9o-A2o, 98o, 54o }

Basically, when you get called, you have 26% equity so you lose the hand extremely often. You have to think more about your equity against his calling range before you cbet.

On the river, I would say about half of his Ax would have bet on the turn so he only has about half of those combos. Same with the flushes.. He won't always check but won't always bet so we make an estimate of 50% of the time with each.

Board: A♦6♠7♦ 4♦ A♠
       Equity     Win     Tie
MP2    42.91%  42.91%   0.00% { KhKs }
MP3    57.09%  57.09%   0.00% { JJ-88, AJs-A2s, K7s, 98s, 54s, KdQd, KdJd, QdJd, KdTd, QdTd, JdTd, 6d4d, A9o-A2o, 98o, 54o }

As you can see, we are slightly behind. That is just an approximation though so river is close between value betting thinly and check/calling. Given that your opponent definitely goes to showdown too much I would opt for a value bet.
