PKR, $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

MP: $98.19 (196.4 bb)
CO: $54.18 (108.4 bb)
BTN: $51.80 (103.6 bb)
SB: $50.65 (101.3 bb)
Hero (BB): $51.93 (103.9 bb)
UTG: $110.34 (220.7 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BB with A J
UTG folds, MP raises to $1.50, 3 folds, Hero calls $1

Flop: ($3.25) 9 T Q (2 players)
Hero checks, MP bets $3.25, Hero raises to $10.80, MP calls $7.55

Turn: ($24.85) 6 (2 players)
Hero bets $14

Villain is playing 38/25/ 3.8AF / 91FlopCbet ... Not looking to be positionally aware over 74 hands

Plan was to raise and barrel him off a better hand (Pair+oesd, maybe even 2pair)

Flop: 91% cbet means he'll be betting any piece of this board and by X/C'ing i think we sort've turn our hand face up? ... By X/R'ing the flop we regain initiative, maximise FE and if he ships over the top it's an easy fold .. However the raise size can definitely be smaller? say $8.50 which Pair+oesd's would more than happily call, Maybe even Pairs + GS's and we can barrel most turn cards putting pressure on his weaker holdings + if we hit we have the nuts

His cbetting range would look something like:

99+, AQs-ATs, K9s+, Q9s+, J9s+, T9s, AQo-ATo, KTo+, QTo+, JTo, T9o

and i expect him to 3bet all the nut hands in his range, KJ possibly calling. not sure about 2pair shipping though so his calling range will look something like

JJ, AQs-ATs, KTs+, Q9s+, J9s+, T9s, AQo-AJo, KJo+, QTo+, JTo, T9o

(Maybe i'm being a little optimisic with Pairs+GS's. but overall i don't expect his range to be strong enough to take another barrel)

Turn: Pots abit too bloated at this point so not really sure what my bet size shoulda been. If the flop raise was $8.50 that gives a $20.25 pot on the turn and betting $13/$14 into this would generate more FE?

Probably way off in my thinking but ah well

Thanks in advance

Hi.

I think a cr is fine but ill use more a 3 street sizing plan. Raise smaller on flop to 8 and halfpot the turn. Then you will still have FE on the river. Your size is a littke awkward here and u seem to be semi-committed vs a turn push. If he calls u cant shove river cos theres less than halfpot on the river.

Thanks

Thank you for your evaluation.

I was just wondering if you could expand a little on his ranges for each street e.g. what types of hands would fold / call (obviously this is clearly player dependent but as a standard) .. By having this 3 barrel plan do you expect him to tell us he has a strong made hand before we get to the river?

Are there any turn or river cards you wouldn't barrel i.e, board pairing or maybe and 8?

Thanks in advance

I agree. We have to fire all 3 streets, so the key is sizing - we have to calculate it in such way so we could have max fe on the river. That's why flop raise is too big. For the river bet we have to save in stack about half pot or more.

I agree with this to some extent.
I think u can aim for 3/4 pot bet on the river if u want to use a 3barrel strategy. Halfpot gets u too many calls from top pair.

I expect him to slowplay straights. He should often reshove flop or turn with twopairs or a set. We are trying to fold out pair + draws type of hands, as well as some weaker top pairs.

Certainly bad cards to bluff at are the T and Q for obvious reasons: they help villain's range.

Thanks.
