Against unknown I would just bet the river.
I don't see much 9x combos in his range and I don't really want to give him a chance to check back.

Why do we not want to give villain the chance to check back here? Can we expect an unknown to call here with much worse very often, like Kx?

I mean, even if there's not that many 9x in his range, surely he's going to fold almost everything that's not 9x or maybe a set to a bet on the river? At least, without any info on villain, I think that's what we can assume?

Generally villains tend to cback weaker hands and only bet strong. He won't bluff in this spot, he won't either bet Kx or some 2p most of the time. We should bet/fold here to gain value from those hands.

Yeah, but that was my question. Can we really expect an unknown here to call very often with hands like Kx or two pair? I understand that they'll check those back, like they should, but can we genuinely expect them to call here with much worse on the river?

Even fish that don't even know what a range is will see that there's four cards to a straight on the board and will likely be scared of it.

It just seems so thin to me to bet this river I guess. But maybe I'm just overthinking things

I think that in general people on this limit are calling down very light, so I think we are going to get called by Kx enough of the times, also two pairs are never ever folding.
