why do you call the flop raise if you intend to fold on a blank turn?

Maybe you should fold the flop raise: like it was commented on one of my previous hands, his flop raise is on the small side, trying to keep you in the pot...however if you know the villain is tricky, it's a perfect flop for him to try to bluff you.

I'd fold to his check/raise on the flop too.

what if he raised more on the flop? a check/minraise isn't necessarily the nuts you realise. it could still easily be a draw.

No, but I believe very often I'm behind here. Unless I have solid reads or I've seen villain check/raising too often, I still like folding here.

Given the stats are correct, I don't fold. I call the flop and raise the turn. He may have many hands that we beat (TP, draws, maybe an overpair like TT/JJ).
