UTG+1 ($1.40)
MP1 ($8.97)
MP2 ($11.72)
Hero ($5.13)
CO ($4.25)
BTN ($3.99)
SB ($4.57)
BB ($1.39)

Pre-flop: (1.5 SB, 9 players) Hero is MP3 9♠ J♠
4 folds, Hero raises, 1 fold, BTN calls, SB calls, BB calls

Flop: 3♥ T♥ Q♦ (8.0 SB, 4 players)
SB bets, BB calls, Hero raises, 1 fold, SB calls, BB calls

Turn: 4♦ (7.0 BB, 3 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero ?

Pre-flop raise was done in the accordance of the SHC.

The main intention of the re-raise on the flop was to knock people off and to gain value for the pot if my OESD hits. Also I wanted to chase off possible flush draws.

The turn left me thinking: should I be trying to semi-bluff people out of the hand or take the free card? SB showed strength on the flop but that was probably a middle pair or a flush draw since he checked the turn (4 :diamond: essencially helps no-one)

I take the free card, with a bet you're not making a middle pair or a flush draw fold, and you have only 6 "good" outs.

You dont want knock of people with just strong draw:
1) More players will call your bets when you will complete.
2) Equity thing. I will try to explain.

There will be 4 stiuations

1) SB has pair 4way
2) SB has pair HU
3) SB has flush draw 4way
4) SB has flush draw HU

1)------------------------------------

Board: Qd Th 3h
Dead:

Equity Win Tie Loss Hand
Player 1: 27.267 % 25.258 % 4.224 % 70.518 % Js9s
Player 2: 13.235 % 12.704 % 1.175 % 86.122 % Random
Player 3: 46.269 % 44.142 % 4.458 % 51.400 % QcJc
Player 4: 13.228 % 12.698 % 1.172 % 86.130 % Random

In first situation SB has pair and you just call and 2 players do it behind you. You have equity 27% what is enought to call.

2)----------------------------------

Board: Qd Th 3h
Dead:

Equity Win Tie Loss Hand
Player 1: 31.026 % 29.004 % 4.045 % 66.951 % Js9s
Player 2: 68.974 % 66.951 % 4.045 % 29.004 % QcJc

Well done! You kocked out two oponents. What has changed? You gain 4% equity, but wait... Player with top pair gained most of it.

3)------------------------------------

Board: Qd Th 3h
Dead:

Equity Win Tie Loss Hand
Player 1: 22.409 % 21.780 % 1.270 % 76.950 % Js9s
Player 2: 14.962 % 14.051 % 1.855 % 84.094 % Random
Player 3: 47.675 % 46.863 % 1.645 % 51.492 % Ah2h
Player 4: 14.954 % 14.046 % 1.851 % 84.103 % Random

Similar to previous situation you are not favorite, but have good odds to call, especially with implyed odds.

4)-----------------------

Board: Qd Th 3h
Dead:

Equity Win Tie Loss Hand
Player 1: 28.995 % 28.995 % 0.000 % 71.005 % Js9s
Player 2: 71.005 % 71.005 % 0.000 % 28.995 % Ah2h

Similar situation, but without callers. All equity goes to STRONGER DRAW.

This ir just demonstration... and ranges are not accurate.

In your hand i call flop and check turn.

I also just call the flop and call the turn, the raise wont make a lot of better hands fold and it doesnt create fold equity either.

As played just check behind on the turn, they wont fold a pair or another draw.

Agree with Yoghi here.
