FLOP seemed pretty safe - can I ever not go for value straight away and check behind to induce villain's donk bets on the TURN?

Hi,

i would cbet there probably 100% of the time. Even tough you block an ace, it's possible your opponent has an ace as well. He could also float you much much wider, sometimes even bluff raise. As you've seen, even on such a board, the nuts are likely to change by the river, so you want to charge draws

If you check behind to induce, you should raise for pot OTT. With your sizing, you are giving him great odds to call with his draws and people at plo5 really aren't gonna pick up when you bluff raise for less than pot and when you go for pot for value.

River is close. I would probably sigh call this small size as well. If he bets bigger, i'm snap folding, kicking myself up for not cbetting flop :)

You absolutely should cbet. If you had KQJT you would be cbetting here, so you need to bet with top set also on dry boards like this. If people are always folding, then you're not raising enough hands that aren't aces.

I would bet 15 cents on this flop. Once the turn card puts a bunch of draws up I think you can go ahead and raise full pot.

River is a standard call, I doubt BB has the straight all that often given his relatively small river bet but I am not sure you ever get a worse hand to call if you raise here.

Thanks guys, I'm CBetting next time! :f_biggrin:

About raising full Pot: in general I often seems to think that if i Raise Pot on some FLOPS or TURNS, it is obvious for my opponents that I'm protecting a very strong hand and I'm scared that no one will call with weaker hand :f_mad:

Hi,

sure, you rep strenght, but those are boards you are not bluff raising ever. It's different when you raise a board like K :club:J :club:8 :diamond: for example, or a board like 2 :heart:3 :heart:6 .

In the first example, the board is very drawy, so when you raise you have to be strong, and villain will know that as well.

But on the other hand, th second board is such that you can bluff at it; the major difference is that it's much harder for the nutflush to be outdrawn here,(unlike a set of kings on the first board), therefore villain will have to be afraid of drawing dead.

In this example, after you checked back, a lot of midcards that villain will have called pre now have a draw, so you should raise more to make them charge to draw.

So you should raise big on the first board, but can raise smaller on the second. A small raise won't achieve anything, as most turns will bring a bad card for your nuts if you have them.
