Does Higher level/Stakes play $1-$2 ($200 ) + = higher variance required poker ?
Is it necessary/normal to experience and have to play a much higher variance game as you hit this range of play ??

yeah sure, you need to 3bet and raise a lot more, and do some moves. that equals to more variance
Well, in general I would say yes, but it really depends on your own style. There are players who have less veriance due to their tight style. I am not one of them.^^
