Hello,

I am not sure about how I played this hand. CO had very lag style, BU was a solid reg and sb shortstack with only 2bb. Should I raise/fold if CO or BU shoves, given there are some ICM considerations?

Hey iceblast56!

I'm minraise/deciding what happens after me. ajs is def. strong enough to call a shorter bu shove (especially if hes lag). If the bigstacks 3bet you it depends on your reads. But shove is def. +ev. I just think minr/decide is better!

I would prefer open pushing. If you play it minraise/decide and one of your opponents is aware of the ICM situation (especially because of SB) they might very well punish you with a wide range, because they know that you have to fold an awful lot.

In contrary, if you push first in you get them into trouble. They will have to fold quite a lot because of ICM. Especially BB shouldn't be able to call a lot (he would be able to push way wider if you open raise).

In the end both plays should be +EV, but imo the open push is maxEV.

Asaban
