aa wet flop

UTG 1400
UTG (HERO) 1400
CO 2700
BTN 1700
SB 1700
BB 3000

I raise to 90 my AA, co calls, blinds fold

Flop (225) is 9h8h6c. I bet 170, he calls.
Turn (565) is 4h. I bet 330, he calls.
River (1225) is 9c. I shove, he calls.

He had A9. did i play this badly?

Check river. I can't see value in a shove here. Villain is beating and he is calling or we are beating him but he is folding.

Cant he bluff the river when we check it to him? surely our check looks weak and were giving him the chance to steal it?

That is the point. We are check/calling river.
Dont know what stake it is, but imo on micros it is ok to play it as you did.
If he is random fish, he often will have hands like low pocket pairs, second or even third pair, which he will check call on the river most of the times. When 9c comes on the river his A8 or 77 feels great for him to call.

The stacks are very awkward so its tough to bet here but as you said villain can bluff us so we can make small value bet/bluff bet to ~200 chips and to fold to aggression .
