[Closed] Straddle & Mississippi

i don't think it's meant to bring advantage to the player that makes them, but rather to bring extra action to the table.
i'd think for the player who's paying the straddle it's even a disadvantage, but everybody has to pay it in turn, so that evens out and you'll end up with a much looser table.
the extra bigger blind, means more (dead) money in the pot, so more action from the other players.

could be wrong, never played this way, but always figured that was the idea behind it...

I played yesterday and I made some of these moves.
It really gets more action, but when you look at your cards, even in the button, with 2x the BB already in, and you see a T2o, your really figure out that the idea of putting more action on the table is nice, but not with your own chips.

The idea is simple. Why I should commit my stack without seeing my cards, just to put more action on the table? There is no sense on doing that. This is gambling your chips, not playing profitable poker.

Anyone has a different opinion?

I think you're missing the point thiago, the idea is that there's more action on the table thus the average pot size will be larger and the Casino will take more rake

I have noticed on High Stakes Poker (on TV) the LAGs petition for the straddle and the TAGs are against it and Doyle Brunson doesn't care ♦
