Would need stealthy weapons not to get attention of hordes. Katana is probably best melee weapon out there, but for inexperienced with such weapons it'd be pretty bad choice imo. I'd rather take machete.

For a gun maybe crossbow I'd say. Have some experience using it and could make my own ammo if needed. Pistols are loud and not accurate in longer distances. Long ranged rifle could be cool, but hard to find ammo, inexperienced in maintaining such weapons etc.
