Preflop: Hero is MP1 with J♦, J♠
3 folds, Hero raises to $2,00, MP2 calls $2,00, 2 folds, BU calls $2,00, 2 folds.

Flop: ($6,75) J♣, A♠, 4♦ (3 players)
Hero bets $3,50, MP2 calls $3,50, BU folds.

Turn: ($13,75) 3♦ (2 players)
Hero bets $8,00, MP2 calls $8,00.

River: ($29,75) 7♦ (2 players)
Hero bets $10,00, MP2 calls $10,00.

Final Pot: $49,75

Should hero have bet more on the river or was it a good idea to bet small to induce a raise (hero was willing to call any push on the river)?

I´d bet 10$ and push river.
MP2 won´t shove here even with two pair, so it is better to push yourself or make larger valuebet. But most likely he holds Ax and would just call you down.
