As I had the nuts, I thought that it'd be better if I did not scary him away with a flop raise... Am I correct?

i would checkraise the flop....i guess there is no big difference to your play since he will put most of the time his last $ in the pot...but i dont wont to risk freecards if he decides to take one on the turn...check raise flop and bet 3bet the turn would be my line

I like this line too. I don´t want to give freecards to a FD.
