Im trying to implement more exploitive play into my game but it sometimes gets me into awkward spots. The old me would just ship 14bb with AJ here.

I guess we can only minraisefold to a nit in this spot. So should i just shove my AJ preflop here?

Do we become too easy to read if we minraise a polarised range? I mean if we A) minraise JJ+AQ+ to get action and B) minraise fold the bottom shove range A8o, JTo etc..

..and C) shove everything in between

?

Hey!

I think preflop shove is perfect here. R/c vs most players is pretty good as well. And vs really huge nits we can fold, but I need a strong read for that. Vs an average player I'm r/c-ing this AJo, and vs totally unknowns I push.

I think your A) B) C) plan is perfect. I'm also almost always r/c the top of my range, pushing the middle part and r/f-ing the bottom of my openraise range, which is usually wide.

Hi,

It all comes to the pot odds. Pot is 1530 and you´re risking 8209 to increase your stack 18,6%. Not really sure you want to see flops with AJ when players like to play back to you.
So I would rather shove, take 1530, likely get folds 70%, are myself ahead 15% and flipping or behind 15%

For the same reasons I´m fine shoving AT-AK, KQ, some suited broaway hands and pp-s

But mostly it all depends on the players. If other players are either scared money, weaks or nits then min-raise is fine with all of your range

best regards,

Hi all,

I'm totally fine with raising this hand. I think openpushing misses value here. Raise/calling for sure as well. I think your biggest mistake in the hand is the flop betsize. With such shallow stacksizes 1870 is unnecessarily large. I think 1200 or even 950 is enough on the flop to put our opponent into almost a push or fold decision.

I would likely bet 1400. 950/1200 seems a little too small to me and can always induce some light floats or raises and since we´re giving up most turns I would prefer maximizing our fold equity with c-bet

best regards,

Any raise is committing anyway, and I think with some info/generalizations we can make money from his floats with either fit-or-folding or ATC second barrelling.
