Pre Flop: (1.5 SB) Hero is UTG with K  A :spade:
Hero raises, 1 fold, BTN 3-bets, 2 folds, Hero calls

Flop: (7.5 SB) 7 :club: 9  2 :spade: (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets, Hero calls

Turn: (4.75 BB) 3  (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets, Hero calls

River: (6.75 BB) 5  (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN checks

BTN is a good player.

So, this is the problem I have with no capping AKo OOP! I get this player to see that free showdown, not having the initiative (not that I would have bet in this situation, more in general I mean). Do you see any profit in a x/r on the flop? All low cards, doesn't hit a 3b range, and most likely he'll pay the turn with his overcards or raise it with pocket pairs, where I can safely fold?

He's 3-bet your UTG range, AK is hardly a monster in this situation

There is always going to be a situation where capping would have been better but these are not the majority of the situations and in fact, capping AK here would put even more value hands in your range (you're capping vs a 3-bet vs a UTG raise, you're insanely strong and there's nothing you can do to not give that away)

That's just the problem with being out of position, unbalancing your ranges to get hyper-thin value isn't going to help if you let your opponent get of his marginal hands
