Villain is unknown

OTF: Think I can still have the best hand a lot since there is only one overcard out and the board is somewhat dry, especially since I would still expect villain to be c-bet bluffing this board a decent amount or just giving up on lots of turns. Even if I'm not ahead I can choose to turn my hand into a bluff I think. I didn't see any point in raising and turning my hand into a bluff.

Plan was to just float and mainly give up OTT if he barrels.

OTT: when villain checks I think his range will be mostly draws and hands less than TP (so I think I can pretty much exclude TP+ from his range). So I think I have two options:
:spade: check and re-evaluate river and hope to get a cheap showdown and maybe place a thin value bet on safe rivers vs some weaker pairs, of which I don't think there will be that many in hindsight.
:spade: bet the turn for value/protection vs draws and hands that have a decent amount of equity vs my hand that I don't want to give out free cards to (overcards and such). I think sometimes I might get Tx to fold as well.

what about my turn bet sizing here? Should I be betting about 1/2 to get calls from a weaker range?

as played...

when I got called I felt like villain either has a missed draw and I win or some Tx and is in x/c mode and will probably not be folding to another bet. All in all I thought that I had enough showdown value vs his range which would be more heavily weighted towards missed and unpaired draws.

Hi muel294

Preflop: looks fine

Postflop: look at why you bet the turn. You need to find the reason.

If you bet for value you are targeting a very weak range so you need to bet less.

So really there is not a lot of value in a turn bet given the info/board. So I would check back and bet river if he checks to us.

My only problems with this:
:spade:I am always concerned about letting my opponent draw for free in spots like this though. If the board were much more draw heavy would you prefer betting the Turn with the intention of checking behind OTR?
 I don't expect villain to bluff the river or bet worse so I fold to river donkbets unless they are very small and I am calling for note taking purposes
:diamond: can't really see villain x/calling many worse hands than ours OTR

I suppose since the board is relatively dry we can assume a river donk by our opponent would rarely be a bluff and can safely fold? Additionally, since we are IP we can control the size of the pot and avoid turning our hand into a bluff.

How many outs does the opponent have in this case? Rarely enough to give him more than 20% odds (if even that much).

So why would villain ck/call turn with worse if he doesn't ck/call river (by worse I'm referring to pairs, as draws like KJ may call if he plays them passive but really there aren't many draws).

And yes, a delayed cbet on the river would be considered stronger on a blank and we can fold.
