UTG Scythe7 ($173.66)
CO Wealty ($624.37)
BTN Lucanozade ($193.00)
SB Hero ($224.14)
BB eaglewing ($59.69)

Pre-flop: ($3, 5 players) Hero is SB A♠ J♠
Scythe7 raises to $7, Wealty calls $7, 1 fold, Hero raises to $29, 1 fold, Scythe7 folds, Wealty calls $22

Flop: J♥ 9♥ 4♥ ($67, 2 players)
Hero bets $50, Wealty raises to $122, Hero folds

Scythe7- 27/16, 430 hands
Wealthy- 21/13, af3 550 hands

Preflop is kind of marginal, but I think that someone raising 16% will fold a pretty large part of their range to a 3bet, utg 5 handed. I guess the problem with my hand is that it’s often dominated when I get a call…so this would be a better move with smaller suited connectors to avoid negative implied odds.

On the flop my bet must look pretty strong to him, so I don’t feel like he’s making this move as a bluff. I thought about it a long time, but laid it down because I put him on either a combo draw, pair+draw or set. Could I have played the flop differently?

I'd say: nh!

If he is very aggressive and moves a lot I might c/r this flop to get it in. But this would be a lot easier with the A  . As a standard I like b/f. He might induced your squeeze with a strong hand or just have hit this flop hard. Nothing you can do.

I think its fine, but could be better)

but I think that someone raising 16% will fold a pretty large part of their range to a 3bet

16 PFR doesn't mean that he is raising 16% from every position. It is lower in UTG and higher in BU. It depends on the player, but he can be easily opening 10% there.

so this would be a better move with smaller suited connectors to avoid negative implied odds.

quite a reasonable thought)

If Scythe7 is aggressive postflop, I would call due to relative position. AJs plays way better this way, then in 3bet pot.
Basically, the only time when i squeeze here is when I know somebody is calling with worse.

thanks for the comments about 3betting xylere, I see why this is not a great 3bet spot.

I'm already trying to adjust raising % according to position while I play. I just meant that I thought he would probably fold a lot of his range to a 3 bet even if he's only raising something like 10% here.
