Stacks:
UTG Leksand ($376.32)
UTG+1 sirus77 ($129.60)
CO SlickJack ($214.84)
BTN Hero ($213.04)
SB HiroNakamura ($192.12)
BB NathanAAA ($270.72)

Pre-flop: ($3, 6 players) Hero is BTN J♦ 8♦
2 folds, SlickJack raises to $8, Hero raises to $25, 2 folds, SlickJack calls $17

Flop: 2♥ A♥ A♣ ($53, 2 players)
SlickJack checks, Hero checks

Turn: T♠ ($53, 2 players)
SlickJack bets $28, Hero raises to $60, SlickJack folds

Slickjak 31/19 af2 380 hands

Preflop I decided to squeeze. On the flop I didn’t think he would believe a cbet/2nd barrel (I make them too often as it is) so I snap checked with the intention of raising the turn as if I have something like AK. This seems like a good spot because I think my turn bet will fold out everything except an A, and his range is way bigger than that. The other reason that I played it like this is to vary my lines more, because I find I cbet/2nd barrel/3rd barrel way to frequently. Are there other reasons I shouldn’t make a move like this?

Nice to see that you are climbing up the limits.

Well, it really depends on the raiser and the blinds.
1. Are the blinds tight?
2. Does CO folds often enough against a 3bet?
3. Does he fold enough against your cbets?

If your answer is no to one of the questions, do not reraise pre.

Standard would be to bet this flop. If he is likely to call you very light on the flop but folds to a turnbet I 2 barrel. Your line is an alternative if you know that he will always bet the turn no matter what he has. Against such opponents I like your play.

I don't think 3betting here is a good idea. As tribun partly mentioned, you should 3 bet for 2 reasons:

a) if you have enough FE to show immediate profit (or w a cbet), which I wouldn't assume against 31 vpip guy, at least, not before I've seen him folding bunch of hands to a 3bets.

b) For value.

J8s is a good hand for a) purposes, but obviously not for value)

If you are trying to develop aggressive preflop play, use more selection) I usually play shorter games at this limit, but when i play 6max I often 3bet multitabling tags (like Kaitz ) those guys fold a lot. My tip is to have a gap between you and him) like MP (or even UTG) vs BU or BB, since those kind of 3bets get way more credit -> fold equity.

Ok, I like your guys analysis about when to 3bet... I'm still getting the hang of playing looser preflop. I really agree that this isn't a good spot because I'm not getting enough fold equity from this guy.

Thanks!
