I assumed the villain hit top pair of 10's on the turn, but instead had hit a set of 3's on the flop... Feedback pls.

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with K♦, 9♦
SB posts small blind ($0.01), BB posts big blind ($0.02), 2 folds, Hero raises for $0.08, 5 folds, BB calls

Flop: ($0.17 - 8.50 bb) K♠, T♣, 6♥ (2 Players)

River: ($0.81 - 40.50 bb) J♣ (2 Players)
BB bets $0.78, Hero folds, BB gets uncalled back ($0.78)

I made a continuation bet post-flop with top pair and then another 2/3 pot bet on the turn to try and force a fold from a straight draw. When the J came up (J, T, K, A on board) and a big bet out of villain I thought it best to fold. Was this the right move?

I put this one in to shame myself... I almost knew he had a queen, which he did, yet I stayed in anyway. Not only did I stay in... I raised him! I need to stop gambling and start playing probability proven poker... +1 for alliteration at least?

Hi,

1) Aces against halfstack is played fine. He would raise turn with worse hands, so I would also put him all-in.
2) I´m not sure if you can bet that turn card for value. If player is calling station then it is fine line, but against regulars I would likely check back turn and then often calling river lead on safe rivers. As played: folding river is fine- he has often Qx hands or at least two pairs.
3) I would b/f turn and b/f river for value. If you choose to c/c then turn is fine and likely I would fold to his river overbet. As you said he often has Qx or flush and I doubt he is going to fold these if you shove yourself.

best regards,
