Here's the discussion and feedback thread for the new coaching course starting this week. I'm open to all feedback, and you can post relevant questions and/or hands here for discussion.
Each coaching will consist of a 20-30 min seminar and then roughly one hour of live play. Hopefully this will balance between the value of knowledge that you can receive at my coaching and the interesting/exciting aspect of live play.
Time Slot and Level: Sunday, 19:00 CET, Silver (4 weeks)
Value Proposition: ICM is the essential basis of all SnG play. Knowledge of how much our stack is worth and how we can use it to our advantage will determine whether you are a winning or a losing player in the lowstakes, and will be absolutely essential in the higher stakes as well. Everything else is secondary. Many SnG players know this, and have relatively good knowledge of ICM, but few master the concepts really well.
In this short course we will quickly go through the basics and then we will look at a couple of spots from a more advanced point of view. Emphasis will be put to the understanding of the "hows" and "whys" and the mechanics of ICM instead of memorizing countless Nash tables.
Week 1: Know your basics! What is EV, what is ICM? What's the difference between chip-EV and $EV? Seemingly simple questions that are hard to thoroughly answer. Introducing the concept of the "Outcome tree" and the "Result of the Outcome".
Week 2: Playing as the bigstack. What's our advantage and why, how can we use our stack to abuse others? What are the common mistakes that we make as a bigstack on the bubble? What do we have to be careful about?
Week 3: Playing as the midstack on the bubble. How to approach this situation, when can we take over as a bully, when do we have to hide and just wait to drift into the money? What are the common mistakes and how to avoid them?
Week 4: Playing as the shortstack. When should we start becoming really desperate? Surprisingly, our stack has some advantages - what are these, and how can we use them? What are the common mistakes and how to avoid them?
