What was your plan if you missed?

I think you have to fold here on the flop, it's awful for you, you still beat QJ, QT and perhaps JT, but all of those have at least 10 outs. Your A isn't clean either.

hm unfortunately i don´t have an equilator here.
i think i agree with yoghi. i would fold it as well but imo it´s not THAT easy because of two backdoor draws and one overcard getting 8 to 1...
nothing wrong with folding though

Against a very wide range you have this;

Board: 5d Kd 9h

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 23.295% 19.46% 03.84% 30625 6044.00 { Ah8h }
Hand 1: 76.705% 72.87% 03.84% 114697 6044.00 { 66+, A6s+, KTs+, QTs+, J9s+, T9s, 98s, A8o+, KJo+ }

But because he is OOP I actually think he 3-bets less than this, but perhaps you should call once being in position with 2 backdoors indeed.

Actually this is more interesting:

Board: 5d Kd 9h 6s Js

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 05.245% 02.10% 03.15% 3 4.50 { Ah8h }
Hand 1: 94.755% 91.61% 03.15% 131 4.50 { 66+, A6s+, KTs+, QTs+, J9s+, T9s, 98s, A8o+, KJo+ }

I think you should actually fold the river because the jack just completes his whole range, the same applies for a T or Q river.

ah thx yoghi :)

I believe we have Ah6h, instead of Ah8h.

Board: 5d Kd 9h 6s Js

Equity Win Tie Loss Hand
Player 1: 27.211 % 26.531 % 1.361 % 72.109 % Ah6h
Player 2: 72.789 % 72.109 % 1.361 % 26.531 % 66+,A6s+,KTs+,QTs+,J9s+,T9s,98s,A8o+,KJo+

what a change

Thank you guys very much for all replies!

Hi opal99,

going to showdown unimproved has nearly no value so this is some sort of a non showdown decision on the flop.
This article here applies:

http://www.pokerstrategy.com/strategy/fixed-limit/1050/3/

Can someone calculate our equity on the turn if we hit an ace/ a 6?

With that we can see how many implied odds we can gives ourselfes. (I try to do that tomorrow.)

Alright. An ace or 6 makes us nearly break even so the article can be applied. If we count with 3 outs to a pair, 1,5 for the backdoorflushdraw, 0 for the backdoorstraightdraw (bad draw, 2-suited flop) we come to 4,5 outs.
We get 8,5:1 where we need around 10 so we have to get 1,5 SB implied somewhere. To be honest I doubt that we can get that much as we are just a bit over average with the ace, a bit under average with the 6. The backdoorflush can get the 1,5 SB but if it's really often enough.

Folding directly on the flop is however no big mistake an I prefer this because the rake has to be included as well wich makes many close decison into -EV decisions.

interesting

I thought fold call was big mistake after I played this but it doesn't look so bad (just not good..) after all.

Wasn't turn float bet an option here after his check? With fold to c/r...
I know river play can influence your decision but still ;)

Don't remember what he had, but AJ or KJ seem to be possible.

You have around 18% equity on the flop so folding can't be that bad as you need 30% for a calldown with showdownvalue.

I don't understand what you mean about with "turn float bet". Do you mean flop float and bet turn? I don't like that against a 47% wts guy.
Calling the turn to bet the river with that hand doesn't make that much sense. I like a free showdown much more if he doesn't call any ace on this board. ;)

I ment bet turn after call on flop was done (without intention to do that before) - wrong term indeed ;)

What did you mean by free showndown? Turn bet for free SD (that was my question about) or check behind turn and hope it'll be checked to us on river?

I understand flop play wasn't correct :(

Wth free showdown I meant that if you bet the turn you then heck behind on the river.

My plan would be exactly this play as you can easily fold to a turn check/raise and his wts is high enough to call a lot worse hands which may not call on the river (bad turncall wth insufficient odds for example).
