Hey Sports lovers,

I've created this thread to discuss sport in Australia and Australian individuals and teams on the international stage.

SPORTS I AM WILLING TO DISCUSS:

Australian Rules Football : Also known internationally as AFL football. It is our major winter sport and our biggest crowd puller. If you are unfamiliar with the game, feel free to ask questions.

Rugby League : I mainly follow the NRL as the International scene doesn't provide much competition. I am however willing to discuss English Super League.

Rugby Union : A much better International Scene with 2 major international competitions ; The Six Nations Championship for the northern hemisphere and the Tri Series for the south. Also follow the Super 15 Rugby.

Cricket : International cricket has become a lot more interesting with the emergence of The Netherlands and Ireland as competitive nations clamouring for entry into Test cricket.

Motor Racing : I have always loved F1. With an Australian (Daniel Ricciardo) in the Red Bull team, I fully expect to stay interested.

There are many other sports involving Australia or Australians that I am willing to have a chat about, so don't be shy.

Grab a cold tinnie from the fridge and let's chew the fat. Oh, and while you're there, grab me one too. ♦

The World Cup is on now. What, I hear you say. I am of course speaking of the Hockey World Cup currently being staged in The Hague.

I should be able to get some bragging rights over one of my colleagues RasTweet (Belgium) as both the men and women are both playing Australia over the next day or so with the Kookabuuras (men) and Hockeyroos (women) heavy favourites in both matches.

Even though Belgium's mens team is undefeated after their first two matches, the Kookaburras are a powerhouse side and I only fear Germany.

Only the group stage. We are well known for losing to a good side in the group stage and then destroying them in the finals, although I do concede our Hockeyroos (women) aren't as strong as they were 10 years ago.

But the Kookaburras (men) look pretty much unbeatable. :coolface:

Yeah. They are a pretty impressive unit.

Now just have to hope we don't get beat by the same scoreline in the football. We played OK against Chile after a nervous start and probably had the better of the second half but there's no doubt your guys have a significant class edge.
