Poker Stars, $3.19 Buy-in (2,500/5,000 blinds, 500 ante) No Limit Hold'em Tournament, 6 Players

SB: 83,770 (16.8 bb)
BB: 87,579 (17.5 bb)
UTG: 48,561 (9.7 bb)
MP: 184,398 (36.9 bb)
Hero (CO): 86,484 (17.3 bb)
BTN: 46,414 (9.3 bb)

Preflop: Hero is CO with A 5
2 folds, Hero raises to 10,000, 2 folds, BB raises to 87,079 and is all-in, Hero???

Last two tables in the tourney. Plan was to open call here vs one raiser. Im fairly happy to call here early on but seeing as we are down to last two tables should I be assigning stronger ranges?

Im using ICMizer to check out spots and if I give him this range that I think is reasonable then A5s is a call 22+,A2s+,A7o+,K9s+,KJo+,QTs+,QJo,J9s+,T9s,98s. The problem I have with the software is assuming ranges so really Im just wanting to know if my assumptions are to far off. Not a great deal of info on villan he has regish statts and had been 3betting

Hi,

I think the range that you gave him is too light.

In my opinion, with a 17bbs stack he will not ship with that range.

I'd give him:

55+ ; A7s+ , ATo , KJ+ .

Unless I know info that he likes to resteal and even knowing that I would not call very happy.

Hey breena!

I also think your range is too lose. The thing is with 17bb you can defend a lot of hands for the odds from bb -> reshove ranges are getting tighter because of that fact!

I would reduce his range without very good reads to something like 22+, a2s+, a8+, kj+ k10s+

Hey thanks for the replys maybe Im not flatting often enough here as villan with these stacks, Im mostly in push fold mode as I was playing cash before so used to deeper game.

I will look for some info on defending for now.

I see a lot of regs in this game are just open shoving in this spot but I figure raise folding and raise calling is better, I just hate to fold to much. :f_biggrin:
