I got told that it is not possible to win at 1/2c to 25/50c heads up cash game because of the rake back is this true?

it's definitely possible to beat it.
Question is whether your win-rate is high enough to make it worth while. My guess is that it's probably not.
It's definitely beatable, but probably expensive for a new HU player. A good option to play/train heads-up are heads-up SNGs, although fast ones are pretty different to deeper stacked cash games.
