Year after year I failed my goals and recently I realized what was the reason - because I didn't believe I can achieve them. When you doubt yourself it's easy to fail but I learned a lot and I know I'm better now on every area of my life. Year 2016 is going to be great and I'm finishing all my goals. I know I will! I'm changing my blog title from "5 months left" to "There is no tomorrow. Do it now" because I will live this year with this motto in my mind. Let's crush everyone:f_thumbsup:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"You have only 3 months left." That's one of the most brutal sentences you can hear but that's exactly what doctor said to my mother year and a half ago. She couldn't believe it so she kept fighting to prove everyone wrong but most of all she fought for herself and to be with us. She kept going on and on... day after day she kept her head high and used every atom of strength she had to go on...but 6 months later her body couldn't go on any further. That was the hardest thing of my life and even today I can't believe she's not here anymore. I was devastated and mentally broken, I was just living day to day not knowing what to do with myself and I really didn't care about anything.
She was 55 years old and while thinking about her it struck me all of the sudden it's almost a year since she left. Instead of being down I looked myself into the mirror and realized I've been playing it safe all my life, making calculated decisions with almost no risks. I realized being 32 years old and having that experience behind me I now know how cruel life is and how short it can actually be.
So I decided to step out of my comfort zone and start playing poker for living. Like the title of this blog says - "you have only 5 months left!". That's the amount of time I have until I use up all of my reserves and go broke. Putting it down like this sure sounds crazy and to be honest it's not far from it but it's not a (totally) desperate try. I have a plan! I withdrew most of my money and won't be withdrawing any part of my poker BR by the end of this year because in theory I should have enough for all my expenses. Also I found an office where I will be spending 8-10h per day devoting my time to poker.
Poker is not my hobby it's my passion so I will strive to improve on many areas to gain knowledge which will help me come where I want to be. In order to do so I will use my competitiveness as my advantange and stepping down or giving up doesn't exist for me from today on. Beating myself will be the biggest challenge so I will be persistent and at the same time focused on what I'm doing. I have written down my direction I'm heading towards and I will have to be honest with myself not to underachieve as I used to in the past. From today on I will not be happy with smaller steps when I plan higher goals to achieve.
I will improve my technical part of my game working hard and not just writting these words which mean nothing without results. I will also improve my mental approach and stability which will help me not only in poker but also in life. I've been active all my life but lately my physical shape is worse than it should be, so getting in better shape will help me think clearer and sharper.
I'm starting this blog for two reasons:
1. To help myself. I will write down my goals and also share all my thoughts about things I'm thinking about and working on. This process of growing will hopefully motivate me even further.
2. To motivate others. Maybe someone will read this and say "this oldie started playing at 32 and look how far he has come".
