Poker Stars, $13.89 Buy-in (150/300 blinds, 25 ante) No Limit Hold'em Tournament, 2 Players

Hero (BB): 6,350 (21.2 bb)
SB: 7,150 (23.8 bb) 44/48/3bet 37 over 118 hands, filtered for HU

Preflop: Hero is BB with K 9
SB raises to 600, Hero calls 300

He was 4betting my 3bets a lot so I switched to calling with half decent holdings.

Flop: (1,250) A 8 A (2 players)
Hero checks, SB bets 600, Hero calls 600

Very unlikely he got a piece of this, so K high is nuts here, but no need to raise, so going slow.

Turn: (2,450) 8 (2 players)
Hero checks, SB checks

He confirms my flop read.

River: (2,450) Q (2 players)
Hero bets 808, SB raises to 2,400, Hero folds

I went for a small bet representing A. If he got air he is calling to anything anyway. But his raise is unexpected: either he slowed A himself, or his QJ/QT type hand improved or he is trying to bluff me out of here, thus betting this big.

Results:

Spoiler

4,066 pot
Final Board: A 8 A 8 Q
Hero mucked K 9 and lost (-2,033 net)
SB mucked and won 4,066 (2,033 net)

Ok, so, K9o is not half a decent hand. It's a great hand in HU matches. No need to 3bet this pre and put yourself in an awkward spot.

Just flat. Flop is well played. Turn also, river is bad to me. Why would you turn your strong showdown value in a bluff. Because that's what you are doing by betting there. You can never stand a raise. Just try to check it down.

I put him right away on 8x, Ax, never Qx. He's just calling Qx there.
