My plan was to fold if he shoves turn and valuebet river. When he bets river I put him on a J, although I had trouble understanding how he got to the river. Should I have folded, I called expecting a split.

i think you have to call here

you probably split most of the time, maybe once in a while he has KJ (that often folds T unless he has a big ) or a flush (it's good that you block those with T:d).

You are also assuming he's never bluffing which is probably a false assumption

yeh, in my mind it was a sure split and an easy call.

Well the problem is that I can't see what hand could he c/c twice and then bluff the river with, maybe if he was slowplaying a set or an overpair but I just don't see it.

I don't know, I'm probably overthinking this, just wanted to make sure this is a call

sometimes people just randomly lead 2p or 6X or turn A:d8:h into a bluff, you'll be surprised.

We are probably chopping most of the time but the occasional bluff makes this a call despite us losing to KJ and flushes
