Hello all,
I would like to have some suggestions to solve a problem i have when i face a 3bet having good cards like AK or JJ.

I post 2 sample hands with AK, one IP and one OOP vs same oppenent who as 3bet% of 6.

1)

Known players:
[tg]Position_Stack:hands/vp$ip/RaisePreflop/AF/WTS/ORL/BBvsSteal/W$SD;Hero$100,00:///////;BU$113,95:586/12/8/3,0/23/10/100/50;[/tg]
0,5/1 No-Limit Hold'em (8 handed)
Hand recorder used for this poker hand: PokerStrategy Elephant 0.62 by www.pokerstrategy.com.

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with A♥, K♣
2 folds, Hero raises to $3,50, 2 folds, BU raises to $12,00, Hero???

2)

[tg]Position_Stack:hands/vp$ip/RaisePreflop/AF/WTS/ORL/BBvsSteal/W$SD;BB$53,05:1.441/11/8/2,0/32/24/79/57;[/tg]
0,5/1 No-Limit Hold'em (9 handed)

Altough I don't fold AK very often I would fold it against this guy if I don't have any further informations. If we assume his 3betting range is 1/3 of his af he has this range:

Text results appended to pokerstove.txt

534,238,848 games 0.031 secs 17,233,511,225 games/sec

Board:
Dead:

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 62.194% 58.44% 03.75% 312217644 20048820.00 { TT+, AKs }
Hand 1: 37.806% 34.05% 03.75% 181923564 20048820.00 { AKo }

We are not running good against that and especially OOP we have a hard tie to play postflop.

Second case:

He raises from BB vs our early raise that reduces his 3betting range a lot. Again I just fold, he is just too tight.

Same counts for JJ btw.

Best regards,

I usually play PPs for set value against a tight, 11:1 (pot odds + implied odds) is enough on a reraised pot against guys like this, if im not mistaken

Depends on the odds you get, but 1:11 is pretty close. In second case we don't get the odds, in case 1 I would still fold my PP. You need to stack him so often to make that profitable. And sometimes you will loose your whole stack against better sets, flushs, straights. If he is any good he might be capable of laying down a top pair if you have him beat.

1. hand: if he is a good reg, his 3betting range from bu vs co, mp3 and mp2 is huge .. i 3bet there sometimes any2suited vs a typical regfish ... i guess i also have around 6% 3bet stats in fr games which is pretty aggro. hence, i would 4bet/call in this scenario. however, folding in this spot may not be a big mistake, but if you're folding here too often vs thinking regs you'll get exploited a lot

2. hand: insta muck. his 3bet in bb vs our utg raise is too strong, assuming he has any idea of ranges in different positions
