Going broke with 2nd pair is not a good idea. People are typically checkraising merged ranges (plenty of TX) and this makes it worse for a 2nd pair type of hand, compared to continuing against a more polarized range of draws, weak bluffs and monsters

Maybe QT+ with some combo draws. You must remember that you don't always have to play push or fold vs short stacks. Calling is always an option. Call and hope to dodge bad cards, then consider rejamming the Turn if he bets on a blank. Or maybe flat again if there's enough money left behind.
