Preflop: Hero is SB with 5 A
2 folds, Hero raises to $0.30, BB calls $0.20

Flop: ($0.60) 5 J 2 (2 players)
Hero checks, BB bets $0.45, Hero calls $0.45

Turn: ($1.50) 9 (2 players)
Hero checks, BB checks

River: ($1.50) 8 (2 players)
Hero checks, BB bets $0.75, Hero folds

BB- 26/22 over 193 hands, AF 4.3

I prefer a cbet on the flop but this kinda raises the topic of having a checking strategy in this spot. I tend to x/fold too often when I check flop in general. Thoughts?

Hi legand,

Preflop: looks fine

Postflop: I would cbet here myself with 2nd pair type hands but as played I'd ck/raise river there or overbet myself. Villain is clearly weak.

K so even w/ some sort of showdown value here we're still looking to get villain off some better hands that he might be trying to realise at showdown?

We have SD value in a vacuum on the turn but once he checks back turn he generally has a better hand than yours but almost never a flush.

so how can you make a better hand that's not strong fold?
