Hmm.. Weird thing is I feel like calling his shove since he is a reg because in my line of thoughts a reg doesn't play QQ+ this way as optimal play would be to call then c/r turn. Putting him on over cards. But then again a reg might know I think like this and shove his QQ+

1. Taking control? Hand Face up?
I don't think that is a strong justification for raising here. You represent very few strong hands (44/33, maybe A4s) and you would/should slowplay them by calling. His range is superior to yours on this board because he has QQ+ and you probably don't. Thus, you should play your entire range more passively.

2. Raising the Flop and not knowing how to proceed vs a 3bet
I generally dislike raising something for value on a particular street and then folding vs a re-raise. You would need to know for sure that
a) He calls with a ton of worse hands
b) His re-raising range has you crushed

When I evaluate micro forums, many guys tend to make this mistake and they take a raise-fold line even when they are not too sure whether conditions A and B are fulfilled in this case.

3. Flatting the Flop keeps his bluffs in, whereas raising will often force out his overcards and isolate yourself against a stronger range of hands.
Meaning, that he would just continue with 77-AA, 44/33/A4s and fold everything else. You are an underdog vs this range.
