Raising and re-raising on a monotone board with your hand is not ok.

Cheers
A set is a very strong hand, but you have very few outs against a flush.
Your flop bet is very small, and this is a good size to induce a bluff, but I think you should bet larger and fold here to the shove
:-)

I think we can sometimes check/call flop and turn and continue river only if we hit a fullhouse. Those spots are always tricky because sometimes he might have a flushdraw. I guess that we can do anything here: check/raise, bet/fold, bet/call... If we just give up, we give him the credit that he always has a flush, which would rarely be the case.

I even don't mind how you played it.

I would say most players do not have a solid bluffing x/r range here at lower limits and call too much there best option IMO is to bet big flop and turn and check decide river. Let him call two big bets with a spade or pair + draw hand

and.... fold to any raise, without reads i'd just give him credit an fold flop as population tends not to have decent x/r ranges here (**expecting abuse saying folding a set is stupid but meh most people aren't x/r bluffing enough so just bet till they raise **)

3betting the flop will only isolate us vs flushes, have to think of your hand in terms of relative strength to the board texture.

If we don't like folding to initial check raise, when he jams it's a slam dunk fold. He would likely just call all draws and jam a flush only. Overall at micros in these situations 4betting+ on two tone is a set+ and mono is only flush
