Not sure about the preflop call to raise, but postflop is fine. We should bet in 100% of cases without showdown value on the river. In some case we could even try to take the pot on the turn, but I don't like it on this kind of board because I expect flushdraws to call. Having said that, maybe we can even bet the turn and river in case that the river card is not :heart:.

If his plan was to raise preflop so he can take the dead money, but to give up if somebody else calls, them I think it's a good plan.

Yes and to to the turn bet. An astute player would notice that the A scared you, but not the K, so he might call.

I think he played it well.
