Hi,

Villian in almost unknown, not from russia or so and plays 38/25 in 8 hands

Funny situation on river. I was planning a c/c/r line here, but I think the river changes the situation. The A changes the hands that call a shove I think.

What are your thoughts?

It sucks, A9s is the only hand you are not crushed by, whether he 2barells a low dryish flop with AK is up for debate and even then it`s unlikely he pots the river. He would shut down on the ace with mid pocket pairs you were getting value from, shoving is definately out of the question as nothing worse is calling. The bet is super strong on the scary card and you`ve got a bluffcatcher. Folding vs unknown is my choice

How can you fold a set here? I would call and make a note.

I am, for a start, raising at the latest on the turn. You are unlikely to stack him by slowplaying (and if you do manage to get a big AI/raise called OTR, you may be in trouble).

As played, refusing to lose 45bb with a set is kind of, ..., nitty?

it looks like he is "pseudo" thin valuing ott (or smh like that, scared he is gonna lose you lol, i guess with this line this is not a reg, or a decent player)...and than pots river, it seems we are behind here...doe in game i dont think i would fold here...

The ace probably doesn't change hands which would call a shove in this situation. Our opponent is probably not betting the river like this with TT-KK, or if he is I would expect a smaller sizing.

We have more than enough equity to call it off in this spot. Even if we give him the strongest possible range by excluding AK, A7o, A5s and including AA and sets (with 0% bluff range), we still have around 50% equity which is enough to call it off. Most likely we have 60% equity or more.

In this spot vs an aggressive-looking opponent I would definitely shove over him and expect to be called off by A9, A7, AK, A5s. His stats over 8 hands alongside the line he's taken in this hand make me lean towards typing him as aggressive enough to be betting the flop and turn with AK. He probably wouldn't want to lose his initiative OOP with a nice hand like AK especially if it's suited, and if you look at his bet sizing it seems to point towards this too.

Simply due to the fact that I would include AK in his range means this becomes a clear shove. In this spot there are simply more combinations an aggressive opponent would call off that we beat than the reverse.

I did shove. But I think it's a call.

I don't think he has AK here.

vs his value call range, added 3 combo's of A9o

In my opinion, this hand is quite simple. What makes it interesting is that there have been bids for

  • Fold
  • Call
  • Shove

The opponent need to be of an extreme type that you cannot assign to an unknown for either of the shove or fold plays to be correct. If he fires value only, he need to be of the precise type that does open 55 and A9s, but not A9o and in addition, don't open 97s for a call to be marginally wrong. You'd have 25% equity. Now, that is a pretty narrow read to put on an unknown.

What if he does open all of the above, and in addition fires AK all the way? You'd have 72% equity. A fold here isn't marginally wrong, it is criminal.

The OP and a few more gets it right. All reasonable estimates gives between 40% and 55% in equity (give or take a little, doesn't matter). This is why I call this hand easy.
