Hi everyone,

How would you have played this hand?

BTN: 101 BB (VPIP: 11.94, PFR: 12.12, 3Bet Preflop: 5.26, Hands: 69)
SB: 106 BB (VPIP: 18.02, PFR: 4.50, 3Bet Preflop: 2.22, Hands: 111)
BB: 101.5 BB (VPIP: 15.38, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 26)
Hero (UTG): 50 BB
UTG+1: 120 BB (VPIP: 42.86, PFR: 14.29, 3Bet Preflop: -, Hands: 7)
MP: 102 BB (VPIP: 15.53, PFR: 14.56, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 106)
MP+1: 97 BB (VPIP: 25.64, PFR: 10.26, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 41)
MP+2: 61.5 BB (VPIP: 42.31, PFR: 42.31, 3Bet Preflop: 33.33, Hands: 26)

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has A♥ K♥

Hero raises to 3 BB, fold, fold, fold, MP+2 calls 3 BB, fold, fold, fold, fold

Flop: (7.5 BB, 2 players) T♦ K♦ 6♦
Hero bets 6 BB, MP+2 calls 6 BB

Turn: (19.5 BB, 2 players) T♥
Hero checks, MP+2 bets 9.5 BB, fold

I was not feeling very comfortable with the monochrome flop. And I kind of felt behind after the 10 came on the turn.
Was I too wary in this hand and should have Cbet on the Turn as well, at least to know where I stand?

Thanks!

I think its well played, even if you bet and he just calls, you still would not know where you stand and will face even harder decicions on X:d rivers which he will cbet alot if he is a lag. in general, dont play lags oop postflop because you will face alot of agression on multiple streets and won't often know where you stanf ps: small sample to say villain is a lag, could be tag thats getting good hands)

I would bet turn too. He can call with a dimondX hands. The paired T lowers the possibility of him holding a T.

Continuing turn here, not many tens continuing on a monochrome board unless they have diamond so reduces combos. A naked diamond can still call too. Likely to give up on 4th diamond if it goes b/c,b/c

Bet turn indeed, also try to play fullstack, you are sitting with 50bb at table.

cbet turn, also. If he sucked out, with :Tx:, he'll raise. And he'll flop a flush in 1% of the time. If the 4th :diamond: arrives, abandon ship.

Hi Everyone and thank you for the very informative replies!

Looks like I should have pushed it a bit more on the turn.
I'll definately work on that next time!

Livethelife and Nitrol: I started poker not long ago and have not much experience. As of now it feels more comfortable to play with a small stack since I am still experiencing a lot and am still not comfortable shoving with a deep stack. It is more "psychological" than anything else I guess, and I know it is not the best strategy. But I am planning to buy in with 100BB after a few thousand hands anyways :f_thumbsup:

It is a totally different game when you play with 100BB than the 50BB strategy.

What nitrol says is true.

Also you have to get out of your comfort zone, then you start learning. So I would advice you buy in for 100bb. It's ok to make mistakes, they help you with the proces of improving. And on NL2 it will not cost you that much. So if you want to learn good BSS, start with 100bb and learn from every hand.

You should take the time to read the material on this site and elsewhere as to the optimal strategies when playing short stacked.
If when you decide to play deeper later you may be better informed

Thank you guys for the advice.

I'll buy in for 100bb from now on. Buying in for 50bb without fully implementing the SSS does not make much sens heh :)

Thanks again!
