Poker Stars, $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players

Hero (SB): $50 (100 bb)
BB: $78.55 (157.1 bb)
UTG: $50 (100 bb)
MP: $50.31 (100.6 bb)
CO: $58.34 (116.7 bb)
BTN: $18.70 (37.4 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with J A
4 folds, Hero raises to $1.50, BB calls $1

Flop: ($3) 2 K Q (2 players)
Hero checks, BB bets $2, Hero raises to $6, BB calls $4

Turn: ($15) 3 (2 players)
Hero bets $8.50, BB calls $8.50

River: ($32) 9 (2 players)
Hero bets $34 and is all-in, BB calls $34

Results:

Spoiler

$100 pot ($2.50 rake)
Final Board: 2 K Q 3 9
Hero showed J A and lost (-$50 net)
BB showed K 3 and won $97.50 ($47.50 net)

I think I would x/r QQ and 22, so I decided to x/r AJo on flop. But I don't think I would bluff other cards on the river so I decided to bluff all the way. Is a 9 bad card for my range and good for villain's? Can he have straights or would he fold them on turn? Maybe I should have bet bigger on turn?

ok here is your leak:
when we want to make bluffs we want the opponent to be polarized so that he has a weak pair or a monster.
We do not want to make him fold a medium hand like AK or better. remember this!
In this case we do not have a clue about opponent range so he is not polarized to weak hands or great hands.

The flop raise is not bad since we have some equity. It is a good x/r especially if he is a guy that bets alot vs missed cbet.
The continuation is spew!

turn small bet is inviting a pair or flush draw or straight draw to continue since you seem weak and if you somehow are strong ,they have implied odds to call with a draw.
If you had a set you would not do that bet size since you want your stack to be less than a pot size bet on river.
So that would be a read to bluff catch.

your turn sizing is a bit careless, also this seems like a bad xr bluffing spot.
i mean, you'll mostly have to xr bet shove to make him fold his range of Kx and draws when he calls flop and i am not sure i want to do that just for the sake of having a xr bluff range here, playability on a ton of runouts is going to be pretty terrible.
as played well, it's cool that you have no FD blockers, but you are probably fucked. i guess i'd shove too but it's tough to say if he's folding KJ or w/e.

I don't think we have here x/raising range. Only if he is some aggro monkey with a lot of plays between you.

Fellas I like your comments, especially bonecore's. But one thing I would like to discuss:

I think we need bluffs in every spot to not be exploitable (not vs every player of course). In my view of poker, we especially get the best of bluffs on spots when villain has a condensed/linear range because he has a tough time dealing vs raises. When he has a polarized range, he has easy decision: fold the very weak, continue very strong hands because he has only strong or weak but not medium stuff, with medium stuff it is worse to face a raise because he would lose its equity by sometimes folding (if calls too much he can and will be exploited)

wealthybrainer, you are correct in your assumptions imo. When villain has polarized range we want to keep his all range in the hand. In this hand, we will be happy if we make him fold AK or better. remember this:f_drink:

do they fold as much as they should though? i mean, K3 is not that much better than KJ here as a bluffcatcher. i think people level too much in blind battles

cant really respond this to you since i am not at the level to think in bluff ranges, sorry
i guess you know better the answer for this question and usually if you can make a question you can find yourself the answer

AK 3bets pre. Villain stabs flop w, draws KQ, the 22, some gtsht type broadways, etc. Even a hand like KJ he should usually be checking back. Which means you never bluff a better hand out on the river just draws which u beat mostly w. ur acehigh.

Much better line would be to 3-barrel this on most runouts, you have range advantage on this texture and u can make him fold Qx by the river using decent sized bets. As played it just doesn't make much sense.

Making CR and barreling is usually much better on low boards because villain has to protection bet his low equity hands (like bottom pairs), which he will struggle to call multiple streets vs. CR.
