TY SDK, I will give my best

Today I have passed my “starter” test, after studying the last couple days some basic PLO stuff. On the one hand it's basic stuff, but on the other hand it's so much NEW input for me, without any PLO background before. But it's amazing interisting!!!

I also bought my first PLO book "Pot-Limit Omaha Poker: The Big Play Strategy"

I am very excited about the next steps, coaching, playing,…

Really solid book, imo. Boils down a complex game into the basic principles of how to be ahead in larger pots.

Can you link me to this PLO thread? It's something I could see myself being interested in when I've achieved some NL goals.

The last days I started playing my first PLO hands – atm mainly PLO25-50. I started playing very tight, because everything was new to me. The first days went very well so far. But today my premium hands get smashed and then I started tilting. I quit playing for today clear my mind for today. Tomorrow is a new day

Especially in 3B pots I am struggeling. AAxxds, KKxxds hands are very tough to play on wet boards and maybe mulitway. I tried to avoid to play too many hands OOP, because it’s very hard to realize your equity.

Later I will do some PLO studying, reading, HH.

Hi guys,

this is my review of my first week of playing PLO. I started out pretty good at the beginning and I thought “wow, that is easy”. I played mainly 0,25/0,5 and made every day 2 buyins +. And then it makes buum at all the winnings and more went straight down. It was like a truck pass over me.
Ouch!

Yesterday I had my first coaching session with KasinoKrime. We had some very good discussions and he told me, that at PLO swings from 25 buyins are/can be standard. Sometimes even 50 buyins. That was a big eye opener for me

This helped me a lot to get my confindence back at the tables. I know that I have to train my mental muscle and this will help on- and offline. So I am very grateful for my first lesson.

Now I have got many stuff to study, read and watch. So there is something to do next days/week/months… and that is pretty cool.
The game itself is amazing. It’s a pure postflop game. Nobody wants to fold against 3bets and you play often a multiway pot. This is a complete different game approach for me – coming from NLHE. Therefore the pots are much bigger and more action is going on. Set over Set. Straight over Straight… money comes and goes.

Short update:

The last couple of days were pretty intensive in studying and playing PLO.

I have organized myself with some schedule for homework, studying, playing poker, reading, working – ups and for family of course ♠_love: .
My day starts at 6 a.m. in the morning with meditation. It helps me a lot to start my day in a calm condition. Then I do some breakfast and then the whole day goes on.

Today I have recorded two live sessions for my next coaching session. I have recognized that I play more focused when I am recording my sessions. So I will do this stuff regulary.

It’s all about LEARNING + DOING + AND REPEAT IT!!!

Update 2. week:

I played PLO 10-25 to get familiar with some fundamental PLO stuff. My focus was on learning and implementing these concepts into my game. I am very happy how this week went. My goal is to play in every session my best game, which I am capable atm with my existing knowledge.

I have many homework to do and this is fantastic. Because I know and feel that the coaching steps perfectly fits to my present situation. I believe in my coach and my willigness to work hard.

Today I had a great grinding day. I played some good sessions and overall the first days of this week went very good so far. Yesterday I had some technical – internet connection issues – and that costs me some money. But today the technic was doing well and I am too.

This week I am working on some special postflop themes and try to improve my game in this area. The second half of the week I will put many hours in studying, because I recognize how valuable this is for my game. Tomorrow it’s time to post some HH and discuss other posted hands. And of course keep up a good volume in grinding.

update 3. week:

The week started pretty good and I had my biggest winning day. That was very cool. I have 3B a guy in a row and he completely spewed off. Of course we take it down like a pro

The next day was the extrem opposite. I hit my stop loss, because a guy who played 94% of his hands had position on me and floated me to hell. We had some AI and his draws drestroyed 2 times my made hand. What have I learned from this lesson? It’s better do have some redraws and BD-EQ if you GII and not only hope, that your bare made hand is good eough – especially on dynamic boards!!!

This is my graph from week 3. I have to discount USD 100, which I have lost on the untracked side. So overall a slightly winning week!

I have also studied many videos from my coach and take many hand writing notes. But I was not happy with my note taking system so far. Now I started to make mindmaps to get a big picture of the different concepts and it helps me to link each other. Furthermore I have worked and will work on my mental game. PLO is a crazy game and is extremly helpful to have the right mindset.

I will write down my GOALS! This is so important, do know why I am doing all this efforts. Additionally I will start a daily journal about my day! I will keep my mindset on what was going well and improve my self-image. In combination with studying and grinding, this will be the right track for my succesful PLO future.

update 4. week:

It was a short week because of my job, but amazing interesting concerning for my poker progress. I have started a daily performance-journal, which my coach can look at and know excatly what I was doing and where I stand atm. And old management rule says:

“If You Can’t Measure It, You Can’t Manage It”

My journal also gives me a good orientation and motivates me to work even harder on myself and my game. I am very energized without drugs

I am only looking on my progess for improving my skill level. I will put more hours next week with all my energy. I know when I increase my input and concentrate to make the right decisions – it has to happen in the long-term. I love the game and it is full of action. I stay cool and focused whether after some swingy sessions, like today. I already recognize how my mental statement improves.

I WILL BEAT THESE GAMES!!!

update 5. week:

I have enjoyed every day so far and I learn as much as possible to get a good base of operations. At the end of the week I recognized some areas, where I lost a lot of money. E.g. I overplayed AAxx hands way to much, as some old NLHE habbits – I have the nuts preflop . But these hands often don’t flop that strong and can’t stand that much heat on some action heavy wet boards. So yeah, I think that was a big AHA moment for me.

Furthermore I recognized how you should approach on the different type of table dynamics. On the one hand you are facing players who play 90% of their hands mega aggro and dominate (for some time :f_grin:) the tables. And on the other hand you find the extreme opposite players. So it’s very important to adapt and play the right style on each table.

My preflop handselection improved a lot and my positional awarness, which players are behind me and some other important considerations. I make small consistant steps and I know it goes in the right direction.

The results are going better the last days although I get sick and can’t play that much as I wanted. I had some additional winnings ~ EUR 30 on an untracked side. Here is the graph from this week:

Next week I will focus on my post-flop game, because I play in some spots too tight and try to reduce the variance. But that is not a good idea. If I have an +EV move and should play more aggressive, I should not care about the variance. The only thing that counts is to make the best decision and go with it!!!

update 6. week:

The last week was pretty swingy and I am still working to get my first break-through week
I am proud that I was fighting me back again after the down-swing at the beginning of the week.

Areas I have worked last week and will continue working on:
1) improved my 3B game
2) stay more aggressive against loose passive players / floaters
3) improve my bet-sizing
4) generate player reads and exploit them
